Training: Create Gifts (Joining/Birthday)

A joining gift is a gift the business sends to new members when they join the club, providing an immediate incentive to join.  Another type of gift is a birthday gift; the business can choose to send members a reward on their birthdays.

 

 

In both cases, the first step is creating the gift:

  1. om the Benefits tab, click Smart Gifts and then Add Gift.




  2. From the Settings tab, enter the gift details.

    Field Description
    Title Appears on the top of the Gift Screen
    Description Enter the description, details, or fine print of the gift. For example, "Get a free tie with the purchase of any shirt."
    Background Image  Add an image of the gift to appear on the Gift Screen and on the Gift List.
    Value  N/A
    Cost  N/A
    Requires an employee code to redeem?  N/A
    Item's Short Name  Name that the employee sees when redeeming the gift. Enter the essence of the item (for example, “cup of coffee” and not “joining gift”).
    Push Notification Message  When you send the gift (by automation or from Filter Members), you can choose whether or not to send a push notification with the gift. If you select Yes, then this is the message text that will be sent.
    Valid From  Select from which date and time the gift can be redeemed. You can also specify the hour, minute and second. 
    Valid Until Select until which date and time the gift can be redeemed. You can also specify the hour, minute and second. 
    Deactivate After Select how many minutes/hours/days/weeks after the member receives the gift that the gift can no longer be redeemed. 
    Activate After Select how many minutes/hours/days/weeks after the member receives the gift that the gift can be redeemed.
    Add Tags N/A



    Notes: The default left and right buttons are Redeem and Close, respectively.                                 
  3. Define Gift POS Settings.                                                                                                       

Add Discounts                                                                                                                           

The benefit a member receives when they redeem a smart gift or use a smart club deal is configured using actions (discounts).

Discounts are defined, calculated and validated entirely by Como. When a member wants to redeem a gift or use their club deal (when Redeem or GetMemberBenefits API calls are sent), the POS sends Como the purchase details. After Como validates the conditions (based on details like shopping cart or total sum) and performs any required calculations, Como sends back the discount amount and description.

Here's a description of the discount configurations, followed by examples.

Field Description
Description Enter the description of the discount that will be sent to the POS (along with the discount that Como calculates) when the member wants to redeem the gift or use the club deal.
Discount Type Specify the discount as either a percentage off, fixed amount off or free item.
Limit Total Discount Amount per Purchase You can specify a maximum amount off that the member can receive from this particular action.
Apply Discount to Specific Items

By default, the percentage or amount discounts apply to the entire purchase. However, you can choose to apply discounts to specific items (such as “for every hamburger you buy, get a free drink”).
Specify which items are included in the discount (see How to Create Item Groups). 

Limit Times Discount Applied per Purchase You can specify the maximum number of times that the discount can be applied from this particular action.
